Board & Investment
Experienced leadership for complex businesses.
Board leadership
Richard brings to every board engagement a combination of operating experience, capital markets knowledge and international perspective that is difficult to replicate. He has served as a CEO, founder and senior executive through periods of rapid growth, financial restructuring, strategic acquisition and regulatory change — which means he understands the pressures that management teams face and the decisions that boards must make clearly and quickly.
His contribution to boards typically spans several dimensions: supporting CEOs and founders with strategic clarity, particularly at inflection points where the path forward is genuinely uncertain; advising on capital allocation and financing strategy, drawing on direct experience with public markets, institutional debt and private capital; aligning investor expectations with operational reality; and navigating international partnerships, acquisitions and exits where cross-border complexity requires both judgment and relationships.
Richard is particularly effective in situations where a business is transitioning — from private to public, from growth to profitability, from national to international, or through a restructuring or sale process. He has been through each of these transitions as a principal, not only as an adviser.
Investment interests
Richard's investment focus reflects his operating history and his view of where durable value will be created over the next decade. He is interested in space and satellite infrastructure, including the ground systems, software and services that make satellite networks commercially viable at scale. He follows hybrid satellite-terrestrial network architectures closely, believing that the convergence of these two layers will reshape connectivity economics for enterprises, governments and consumers.
Within telecommunications more broadly, he is interested in businesses that benefit from spectrum scarcity, regulatory positioning or technical differentiation — particularly where those advantages are defensible over a long time horizon. He is also attentive to the physical infrastructure underpinning AI: the compute, energy and communications layers that determine which AI applications can actually be deployed at scale and which remain constrained by the limits of the network.
Defense and resilience represent a third area of sustained interest. The overlap between commercial space, telecommunications and national security creates opportunities for businesses that can serve both markets — and Richard has the relationships and sector knowledge to help navigate that intersection.
